When selecting a mentor think of your goals first and what you want to get out of the mentoring relationship. A mentor shares their knowledge, skills, and experience to help another develop and grow. A mentor can be a one-time meeting or an ongoing relationship. Whereas a coach is someone who sets goals with you to work towards over a specific period of time (usually months). Ideally, a coach should have training on coaching practices, but this is not always the case.
